Offering world-class facilities in innovative manufacturing processes, AMC partners bring together the best that Ontario has to offer.

The McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI) is a world-class collection of personnel, knowledge and advanced equipment resources. These resources are currently fully leveraged to support Ontario manufacturers as they implement new advanced manufacturing technology to improve quality, productivity, timeliness and to reduce cost while facilitating the development of innovative products/services.

The MMRI is structured to collaborate with a wide range of academic, government and industry research partners with a focus on delivering value to industry by targeting their needs and working to their timelines.

In the past decade, the University of Waterloo has built up major, large-scale advanced manufacturing research infrastructure to enable the education and training of undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as technology transfer and commercialization through its numerous industry R&D partnerships.

Our state-of-art facilities have been critical in supporting new product and process development projects for numerous companies, funded through provincial and federal partnership grants that range between two and five years. Nearly all the partnerships are with medium-to-large size Ontario companies.

Western University continues to develop and strengthen relationships with companies within the advanced manufacturing sector locally, across Ontario and nationally. Focused on increasing competitiveness and adding value within the automotive, defence, green energy, aerospace and building products sectors, Western offers access to leading personnel and facilities at three main centres, which continue to be at the forefront of their fields: the Fraunhofer Project Centre (FPC) @ Western, Surface Science Western (SSW) and Additive Manufacturing Western (AMW).
